What Is a Crossed Roller Bearing? Compact Core Load-Bearing Component for Precision Rotary Equipment
In high-end equipment such as CNC machine tools, hollow rotary platforms, industrial robots and precision inspection fixtures, rotary assemblies need to bear radial loads, axial loads and overturning moments simultaneously. Meanwhile, compact structure, high rigidity and outstanding positioning accuracy are required. The crossed roller bearing is exactly the precision rotary component designed for such requirements.
A crossed roller bearing consists of inner ring, outer ring, rollers and cage. Rollers are arranged perpendicularly at 90 degrees to one another with V-shaped raceways. Thanks to this unique structure, a single bearing can withstand combined multi-directional loads. There is no need to combine multiple sets of bearings, which greatly simplifies the mechanical design of equipment.
Based on structure types, crossed roller bearings are mainly divided into split outer ring types (RB / CRBC series),split inner ring and integral both inner ring and outer ring (CRBT/RAU/RU / CRBH series). Bearings with split outer rings are easy to install and fit applications where the inner ring rotates. Models with integral outer rings deliver higher rigidity and suit working conditions for outer ring rotation.
Different clearance classes are available upon request: CC0 preloaded zero backlash, C0 standard clearance and C1 large clearance. Precision grades cover P5, P4 and P2 to meet diverse demands from common tooling to ultra-precision machinery.
Compared with the combined assembly of multiple angular contact ball bearings, crossed roller bearings feature thinner cross-section and smaller overall size, saving installation space inside machines, while maintaining excellent rotational rigidity and positioning performance.
Luoyang Yatian Machinery Co., Ltd. specializes in the R&D and manufacturing of precision crossed roller bearings. We have separate production lines for large and small bearings with more than 100 sets of precision processing and testing equipment. We supply samples for equipment testing as well as stable mass production orders. Our bearings are widely applied to CNC rotary tables, robot joints, automated rotary fixtures and semiconductor inspection equipment.
